Wayne Schepens

Wayne brings decades of security, product and marketing experience to LaunchTech. He is not your typical PR guy – Wayne has lived what most of our clients are going through. With an advanced technical pedigree that includes launching a successful startup of his own, Wayne offers a unique perspective to our clients with a keen understanding of the industry and a knack for boiling up deep concepts into intricate differentiating messaging points for the marketplace, analyst community and media.

 

 

Wayne takes a hands-on approach to become intimately familiar with all facets of our clients’ operational, sales and marketing goals to take companies and products from the initial planning stages to a successful market launch. This philosophy is carried throughout the company as LaunchTech helps both emerging and mature technology companies enter transitioning markets with new product while balancing the hurdles of building brand, credibility and though leadership.

 

 

Wayne’s technical roots grew out of the Intel community where he led many software development efforts for military and critical infrastructure partners. He holds a Master of Science degree from Virginia Tech and a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Maritime College in electrical engineering.

 

 

Wayne played semi-professional baseball and continues to coach at the high school level. He lives in Severna Park, Md., with his wife and three kids.

 

 

Where are you originally from?

Marydel, Delaware – I grew up on a 300-acre pig farm.

 

 

Who inspires you?

My parents. I don’t’ have to look  far….neither college educated, put 7 kids through college, always gave us everything we needed, and worked their wholes lives into their 90s.

 

 

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Professional baseball player.

 

 

If you were invited to give a TED Talk, what would it be about?

Modernizing College Curriculum and Education: The value in practical learning in college vs theory.

 

 

If you had your own talk show, who would be the first three guests you’d like to interview?

Any surviving members of Easy Company from the Band of Brothers.

 

 

Do you have a secret talent or a hobby?

I am unbeatable at foosball and darts.

What drew you to the field of PR and communications?

With my background in cybersecurity and engineering, I felt I had a strong ability to take technical topics and make them more easily consumable to a broader audience.

 

 

What is your professional highlight of the year?

Keeping LaunchTech moving forward during the pandemic and economic downturn. Making sure to retain all of our employees while continuing to deliver for our clients and add new ones.
